Had to go back and check the dates, and you’re correct. Nobody in America was cancelling events before February 29th when the conference started.  Around the time it ended, they would have been muttering that maybe it wasn’t a great idea, but by then, it would have been too late.

I think they believe it’s going to be some peaceful noble thing, like slipping off to sleep after a evening around the fire with loved ones.
