Maybe read the entire quote before losing your shit?
Maybe read the entire quote before losing your shit?
Funny how that works, huh?
That I agree with but it’s not alone in that category and those pieces don’t get pulled.
I could see it being offensive or tone deaf if it was written by a white woman and she was meeting her white date at a BLM protest but I don’t understand the big deal. I mean, it’s dumb and kinda shallow but not any more than a lot of other stuff that gets published. Weird.
Reade’s a Bernie supporter. That’s your answer.
I don’t think they’re self-serving so much as pre-emptive. It’s better to come out and apologize for something before it’s a ‘thing’, and control the story, than say, if she takes on a role and becomes more famous than she is now and people start digging around her social media and stumble on the video and publish it.
Also, even if you’re sympathetic to her origins, to her struggles with poverty, abuse, domestic violence... people can suffer those things and also be manipulative liars. People are complex. Maybe she learned to lie to survive, and while I certainly would understand how that happens, the bottom line is she’s still…
Never said they were. In fact, if you read my comment, I’m praising the way HBO handled this (“I think it was the right call to bring it back with information on the context”), as opposed to some people who just want to old, problematic stuff to disappear forever.
It’s funny I actually rewatched it a couple of years ago, I think the last time I’d watched it before that was when I was 12 or 13. I never got into it as a kid but I actually liked it more this time round, despite cringing at the more problematic parts.
Did you honestly think that any teacher who signed up would get a free dress? Not just the ones chosen or as long as supplies last?
Frivolous lawsuit is frivolous. Teachers should have read the fine print. But even in the absence of fine print, if there’s a giveaway, it’s obvious that not everyone who signs up will get a dress.
I don’t know this bookstore and I’m nowhere near Colorado so this is a moot point, but if this were a bookstore near me, while their position isn’t one that I would personally take, I don’t find it so egregious that I would refuse to buy books from them.
I don’t understand the tone of this article or what it is you’re trying to say. Are you accusing the brand of making cheap, overpriced clothes that only Instragram lemmings would fall for? Or calling them out for racist workplace practices and being late to the size inclusivity game and then being bitchy about it?…
Pardon my ignorance but I have a question about the reference to Layleen’s dead name/birth name. The statmenet refers to her as Layleen Polanco throughout and just mentions at one point that she was “born Daniel Cubilette”. My question is, if this is standard in police statements, like on Wikipedia when a person’s…
Sorry but I loved those books, and I was already pretty old when they came out and I’d basically stalk my little brother until he was done reading so I could start.
“Everything was very white, passive aggressive, and highly competitive.”
That and marrying Serena.
Ohanian did a good thing but he probably wanted out of Reddit for a while now. It’s kind of tainted. Still, he could have just left but instead he’s trying to make his exit bring about some much needed change.
Oh yeah, I remember that ridiculous nonsense. I know the current crop of Jez writers is the worst they’ve ever had but Joan is like the queen of hot takes around here.
So?
