I think people have generally accepted Tesla for what it is, good and bad.  There is a certain level of brand loyalty and following, stop short of something major catastrophic, the base will continue to buy their products no matter how big the gap or how inaccurate “auto-pilot” isn’t what it is sold to be.

My parents are getting ready to move back to the US after spending the last 5 years of their retirement in Hong Kong.  Need to figure out what to get them in the next 90 days or so.  Never would have thought I would have to enter the car market right now.

If they are doing this, they better add thumbs down and the middle finger.

I drove a fully loaded Rav4 XSE Prime recently that had a $50K MSRP.  Sure, you can knock the RDX for being $50K, but the Rav4 has its short comings too.  IMHO, for $50K, nothing beats a fully load van, like our Odyssey.

I almost bought one last spring but after finding out how much the dealer wanted, I went across the street and bought my fully loaded Passport instead and put the rest of the money back in the bank.

Using a bandaid to stop a leaking dam.  Fossil fuel is done, beyond done.  How long is this guy going to stand his ground?

Try throwing a stone at your own glass house next time.

Bravo to your sobriety.

Speeding up the process?  I mean, their vans will eventually blow up any ways.

Yeah, I do Zwift and TrainerRoad. I like the plans on TrainerRoad better and for me and my setup, it just works better. Glad to hear you are ok and back on the saddle again.

Need to mount a spare ammo box under the saddle to minimize drag/weight balance and run the feed along the top tube...then we have a winner

Yeah, things change when you have a family. No matter how safe I am as a rider, I can’t control others and all it takes is a newly licensed teen who decided watch youtube or text a friend and its all over for me.

Yeah.  I got hit as a runner and had several club mates that almost didn’t make it home, one actually got dragged by a city bus.  I am not racing anymore and my running/biking time are purely for mental health more than anything.  I do have to say in the last few years, the various indoor cycling apps and platforms

I agree with you. I miss being out there. Now I am teaching my kids how to ride on open roads and it is something they should learn and feel free to do as they get older. But I have come to the realization that I can only control what I can, so for now, minimize risk is priority because I have too much to lose.

Hey fellow SDer...by friendly, I meant infrastructer but 100% agree the drivers are fits the SoCal stereotype. Did Ride the Coast before COVID and had a car scream/honk at our group as we were coming back north via El Camino Real in Del Mar. The entire group just laughed as the driver was about to have an aneurysm.

I am with you. When I was living in San Diego, pre kids, Saturday is bike day for my wife and I. Riding the coast on a Saturday morning, there is no better feeling. But even with a bike friendly city like SD, and semi friendly like OC, its a risk.  The 55 inch TV I use during training sessions help lessen the pain,

I am very close to making the switch too as there are a lot of trails around our area.  The only outside riding I do now is on a protected, 50 miles stretch of a protected bike path.  Suck riding the same thing over and over, but at least I am outside and I know I will make it home to see the kids for dinner.

I have ridden on route where cars zips by at 60-70 mph. But guess what, not only was I in the designated bike lane, but they also pass with a three feet buffer. Cars and cyclist can get along, its just a matter of mutual respect.

As a cyclist, I have transitioned about 90% of my rides indoor via trainer and training app. After my kid was born, and several near misses including getting hit by a car while running, it was time to mitigate unnecessary risk.

Drove by an independent Toyota dealership last weekend and there were no cars on the lot or in the parking structure.  Little have been said about this but I think the current supply crunch is going to crush independent dealers not tied to Penske or Autonation, among others.
