:/ Yeah. Sigh. I didn’t even mean “evenly,” necessarily, in the sense of all people having exactly the same stuff, but definitely “fairly.” Not that that’s likely to happen, either.

My youthful, self-medicating-for-depression, scared-because-I-was-broke shoplifting habit got its biggest hauls by taking advantage of self-scan checkouts.
We used to dream about robots doing all the work so that humans could have more leisure time and more fulfilling lives. This could be the reality! Not all jobs will be eliminated, but we could easily get down to very short work weeks (if we compensate people properly).
I agree that being afraid of automation / robots isn’t the answer. Figuring out what this next phase of labor and economic development is going to look like is the answer. Let’s be excited about new technologies, and remember the old prediction that increased productivity and fewer person-hours can mean more leisure…
BONUS: Kids’ publishing is somewhat friendlier to women and POC writers!
Note to self: add reflex-glare-training to daily self-care routine. I hate that my default is so damn deferential and *nice.*
I mean, I kind of figured that was the case, just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.... thanks for confirming. Someone pointed out that he had a shitty childhood, which makes that attitude more tragic but not surprising.
We finally get to see what LGBT dating is *really* like! Just like how The Bachelor has been so valuable in teaching straight kids that dating in the real world is all about competition. I hope we get as good of a real-life glimpse into gay-dating as those touching glimpses of hetero couples falling in real true love…
I feel like I can read people well enough to tell when they’re bored or killing time or interested in getting to know a stranger. Restlessly holding an open book could maybe look like that. Someone actually reading *never* looks like that.
Yes, that. Drug problems are hard to avoid and that head-up-its-butt industry doesn’t give anyone a decent chance at being healthy. I get the impression that a lot of artists’ “people,” (assistants, agents, etc) do way more propping-up-the-star-to-keep-the-money-machine-going than actually addressing any health issues…
*not because I am killing time until a man comes to talk to me************* one million stars
I. Have. Never. Tested. A. Man. This. Way. Does anyone???? I didn’t read the article but am now furious that this inane idea is being reinforced. Noooooooooooooooooooooooo
Ugh! Yes! We DO need to get beyond that! So many dudes (people I know irl) that I have tried to educate about not bothering strange women just respond with “But HOW ELSE IS ANYONE SUPPOSSED TO MEET ANYBODY?!” These dummies see themselves as the glue holding social interaction together. WRONG.
This is so important! Eliminate the separation of “otherness,” and eliminate fear! I think that education is happening - but slowly, and not fast enough for the vocal anti-vax group that most needs to hear it.
That’s terrible. I didn’t know that about him. I have some personal experience with people mimicking the most awful things that were done to them as kids and I know the struggle of hating violence but (unwillingly) perpetuating it. I hope he can get treatment.
It would be kind of fun to see the opposite for a change. Normal, standard licensed logo in the girl section in “neutral” colors, and the boys department has a dumb “masculinized” version- maybe unnecessary camo? Everything blue? Design additions indicating “toughness” “aggression” and “dirt"?
Definitely a major player, unfortunately. Seems like drug problems are pretty hard to avoid in the music industry.
Did being an asshole pre-fame make him more likely to hit it big? I guess I don’t know much about how Chris Brown got started- off to Wikipedia for me.
It probably goes even deeper than the parents seeing the child as an extension of the parents- they don’t even want to examine themselves. All the people I know with ASD have evidence in their family members that autism is in the gene pool. I don’t necessarily mean that the parents are diagnosable as ASD themselves,…
I’ll tend that fire with you
