I grew up the same way. But our parents lied to us. From what I’ve seen (not done) throwing a fit is often a very effective way to get what you want. From customer service to Hollywood.

I’m always really surprised (even though I shouldn’t) when I hear about male showrunners throwing temper tantrums/hissy fits on their sets. Like I grew up very well mannered, mainly because i learned from a young age throwing a fit gets you nothing.
