Yeah, the talking up was in person after all, and was what encouraged me to check out the book—I just hadn't seen a writer throw out their own massive, game-changing ideas so fast before.
Well, she was literally done with that arc and talking it up and then immediately flushed it herself in the very next issue…it was hardly, at that point anyway, "every consequence": it was "Everything is different…just kidding."
The tumor was the "big idea", which was pretty much entirely forgotten when the series was rebooted. Or, at least, the sacrifice was.
I have to tell you I don't understand the '12 hype.
Man oh man.
Holy shit. That's…that's what bothers me so, so much about her character. Thank you so much for explaining it. something felt archetypally familiar but hideously wrong and you've completedly nailed it.
I thought getting rid of her was the best thing the show ever did.
I am forever baffled at how people thought Cat Grant was the best (or even a good…) part of this show. This episode just slammed me in the face (with a bunch of ham) as a reminder of how wrong-headed that thought is.

Are you that guy I almost got into a fight with at Borders like nine years ago?

Came in on the ATDI train around the same time as the rest, but in a weird state:
And Vaya. Both, imo, clearly superior to RoC anyway…
It's not their high point. Their high point was Vaya
That'll teach me to read on my phone and lose track of threads…
He's definitely not one now under Abnett, and wasn't one under the famously "dark" PAD run…
stomps on glasses (too harsh?)
I think drawing the line at 120 minutes for "still reluctant to do stuff" is being incredibly kind. That whole attitude put screaming, angry brakes on the whole show every time the plots around Luke tried to move forward, like a cartoon cat spreading its legs on a bathroom door under threat of aquatic submersion.
This is a rather unfortunate medium for it, considering there's no [DP]M system.
