In my classmate’s case, he was likely dead before he even hit the floor. A few hundred of us literally saw someone die before our eyes, and as can probably be imagined there was quite a bit of chaos. The ambulance was called, but there were hundreds of panicking kids to manage.

^^^ Exactly. You are way too busy with the patient, then the affected bystanders (his teammates and coach, in this case, needed to be dealt with sympathetically) ... then you start locating family. And because you can’t be sure where an ambulance will end up - they don’t always go to the closest hospital - you wait…
