The problem is you’re expecting actual journalism out of Kotaku. The people capable of that are long gone.

What pushed me to use that was the need for lizalfos tails. The drop rate on those is waaaaaaaaaaay too low. For the sets that require specific tails, you generally need anywhere from 9 to 30+. For example, the snowquil set needs 30 red lizalfos tails and the voe armour set requires 33 icy lizalfos tails.
The complaint about enemy damage is…baffling. Guys, if you’re taking that much damage then clearly you don’t have ‘armor up the wazoo’. The silver enemies especially are intended to be their most dangerous version, so yeah, they do significant damage.
I really, really don’t get why Engage is considered to have made improvements on the tactical gameplay. It hasn’t made any actually meaningful changes.
Holy shit, this is a heroic effort to spin this as anything other than a result of harrasement. Unfortunately, it’s also completley devoid of nuance.
This is the first time in a while I’ve decided not to preorder a Fire Emblem game. Three Houses was such a great blueprint to build on and this seems like such a step back from what’s been described of the narrative, the social aspects, and the ring mechanic.
As opposed to the artistic genius of pile of goo, other pile of goo, pile of goo but big, seel, slightly different seel, two balls, eggs with eyes, etc etc
To the people complaining that they might actually have to battle Pokemon in a Pokemon game (perish the thought), I’m sorry you might have to put slightly more effort into this than Arceus’ 2-step method of
I demand that Leonie be added to the list of expendable Golden Deer members. That is all.
Look, you’re welcome to have opinions on Fire Emblem and turn-based strategy, but a hint of nuance and would do the value of that opinion a world of good. Like, I’m glad there’s another game for you to enjoy, but the whining about turn-based strategy makes me wonder why you’re bothering with the Fire Emblem franchise…
FINALLY!
“Others, like those patently ridiculous wolf-beast-things from 2019’s Sword and Shield, have fallen into the series’ recent pit trap of genericism.”
Great, so not only do we apparently not get a proper Direct, we get indie news instead? Didn’t we just have an indie direct not long ago? Look, I know there are some really great indie games, but geez…
People like different things, man. But sure, tie your sense of self worth to video game preferences, I guess.
I did, still not a fan.
Please, please, please let Digimon survive actually be good at this point and not just a mediocre visual novel that will occasionally let you play a digimon strategy game.
To each their own. I missed out on the mother franchise at first and could never get into it later, so those games have never really meant much to me.
I know it’s probably not the most anticipated game on the list, but you *need* to at least try Golden Sun! Seriously, trust me on this, the series is one of my absolute favorites.
Square Enix president still needs to learn to read the room and shut up.
I’m sorry, but ‘It’s not turn-based and therefore better than the game that spawned it’ is not an argument.
