Well I just said it, so you know at least one person. But everyone implied it, while talking out the other side of their mouth about how more games needed female protagonists. The fact of the matter is, putting the main character in a situation that is fairly realistic in this game earned it about 3 weeks of scorn,

You know, I partly agree and partly disagree. Unfortunately, network externalities have bit me in the ass, but I guess not all such software has these problems.

You know, I think this happens to a lot of people. I once, in a law school lecture, read wanton - as in wanton disregard for human life - as wonton - as in a Chinese dumpling often used in soups. Oh the good old days of being laughed at by a hundred plus people.

Agreed. For me the only good tomb raider was the first one. All about exploration and 3d platforming, minimal fighting. Even the 2nd one jumped the shark by adding gunfights, imo.

Having her fingernails torn out would be violence against women in video games, and that would just make this game torture porn, which it already is. Didn't you know that?

Because, The patriarchy. Also, seriously, Jezebel and Male Gaze. But really, you need to check your privilege. Also, phallocentrism.

The problem with sales of things like productivity software is that you generally don't get to "wait" to buy if you need the software. Unlike games, where I can wait 6 months to 2 years and still enjoy the game as much as when it was new, at a highly discounted price.

Missed the opportunity to edit, but maybe I linked the wrong article second, here is the one from one of the lead authors on the game.

The exact same thing could be said about Juliet in Lollipop chainsaw. In fact, there were several articles about Lollipop Chainsaw over on destructoid about how the game had undercurrents of objectification, re: the severed head is the ultimate form of objectification, kept around as an object yet completely

You realize the second article is the author of the game discussing his mentality in writing it. Perhaps you should read that one too. It isn't just Jim using his own creative interpretation in the game, and even if he was, the idea the game clearly came from somewhere and to write them off would be asinine.

Eh?

It is clear you either went to a better school or actually spent more time learning. People are so insanely paranoid about bacteria and germs... it's such a waste of resources all the effort we spend trying to make our environments 'germ' free.

Think of it as just another fetish. It's combining sushi, which is already a fairly erotic food with a naked body. It is really weird to see it happen at something as mainstream as a restaurant called "Kung Fu Kitchen" though.

I believe the correct form is: "Nice try, Roger Ebert."

I believe it was several years ago now... but it did win a grammy.

I never said ALL feminists are man hating. At least I don't think I did. I'm fairly careful to talk about feminism as an institution. And as an institution, based on the laws passed and the tone of feminist thinkers, I have little choice but to come to the conclusion that feminism is in fact not about equality.

I disagree. Cataclysm was TBC 2.0 until the release of firelands.

To answer your first question, I would say VAWA, for the first example, as it universally describes women as victims and men as perpetrators. Additionally, the funding from VAWA is primarily for domestic violence shelters that only offer services to women, for example.

I know what you are saying. And for the longest time I felt the same way. In fact my natural inclination is to "solo" and I prefer games that have robust solo content. The problem is that this leaves games very solitary. It turns online games into basically single player affairs.
