Its likely a repurposed script Warners had lying around that they turned into a Joker film.

Some people can’t stand that other people value things like writing, acting, and directing more than whether a movie is “genre” or not.

It was actually written as a Joker movie as far as I know.

Europe has always had a soft spot for sad clowns.

It’s coming from them wanting to come across like they have a less petty reason for hating this film’s mere existence.

That’s a good point. They want to undermine Joker’s praise and accomplishment by discrediting the award itself. Pretty petty.

Yup.

Whelp, this is one of those times where maybe pre-deciding you hated it and realizing you were wrong could lead to growth as a person. OR we can double down and (not-so) subtly side eye its accolades and pretend our presupposition was still correct. Either way, I’m gonna go see it. Is this gonna be Io9's new Iron

Does being another serial comic book villain have more of a point to being another murdering psychopath?  It’s not like American Pyscho was a bad movie.

I keep seeing references to this Joker being an “incel”, but we see him in a relationship with (or at the very least, courting) a woman. I’m not sure where the incel comments are coming from.

It seems like that's not the case with this reimagining of Joker. Not saying you should see the movie,  just that the reviews suggest this isn't the case here.

If RT is to be believed, far more critics like it than hated it. Very few are lukewarm on it, though there critics who like it do also seem to say it is not without its flaws, and some of those critics say such flaws are major.

No one cares, this movie is gonna be a huge hit, and an important piece of art in cinema.

It’s quite easy to avoid films you don’t want to see. What a redundant comment

Ok.

It’s funny, the major critics who have weighed in have been a little divisive in terms of a consensus. But the ones who do like it are full-stars loving it. It’s a very interesting wide net of reactions.
