I’m curious about that 11% of people buying the Switch who aren’t playing Zelda. If you’re one of them, can you explain it?

Can’t wait for the eventual PS+ freebie that this will be!
Thank you. That was a well-reasoned, perceptive reply. I think you’ve got some great points too!
Ultimatly, that I’m skeptical that Nintendo views indies as anything other than a quick fix to a problem.
It’s a shame. I JUST watched the episode of The Rubin Report where he was complaining. About just the kind of reactionary behaviour that just cost him this job.
I didn’t mention anything about Sony believing in indies. When I brought Sony up it was to illustrate what it looks like when a company makes something important to thier brand and thier future in a way that the public can bank on. That’s why I used Sony and “core” games experiences as my example.
I’d say “afraid” is probably too strong a word. I’m a pretty dedicated player. I’ve got everything but an Xbox one. So if there is an Indie game that’s out there and it’s not on Switch then I’d probably just play it on PS4 or PC or maybe even Vita. So really, I’m not talking about something that actively bothers me.
How so?
But we don’t have to guess who Sony is going after. They want people who buy games like Grand theft Auto and The Last of us. That’s why they made the system they did. That’s why they have thier studios make the games they do.
I get what your saying and I totally understand how what I was saying can sound ridiculous. It sounds like I think Nintendo has to have some kind of special, magical view about indie games that comes from some kind of deep love and appreciation. Which would be silly for me to think.
Sony believes in core gamers. What that means is that they believe it is in thier best interest to go after that market long term and make the kinds of games they want. I don’t have to wonder who Sony thinks it’s audiance is. They know it. We know it. We can trust they will focus on games like uncharted and such…
Same. Though I’d love to have one I just don’t have nearly enough time or money to get it at the moment. Plus I have a Wii U already so I might as well just play Zelda there. Lastly, I’m also bogged down with other games myself. I’m still working my way through FFXV and I don’t see any reason to stop playing one good…
This.
You’re exactly right, it is a good thing. And in fact, good pretty much across he board. The reason that I still bristle though is because I know it may ultimatly not be something I can count on. Like, this system is using. It cuz it needs it but as soon as nintendo thinks they DON’T need it (either during this…
Nintendo saying this about indies just rubs me the wrong way. It’s hard for me to believe they care about indie games because they believe in the idea of them. It’s much easier for me to think that they know they need more software and it ain’t coming from major studios.
I feel like 2018 could start in a month and I could STILL say 17 was a great year for gaming.
I’ve been wondering how diffrent devs handle game writing. It seems like many wall the writing away from the game itself. There are the cut scenes and thats what the writers get to write and then there are the things outside of those cut scenes and they just don’t seem brought in on all that. But I’ve noticed how…
I actually did have the pack. I think it was necessary for Majora’s Mask which I wanted to play. Anyway, even with the EP it looked terrible. Like I said, I think it was my TV honestly.
Cool! Didn’t even know Steamworld Dig 2 was in its way.
