I think we overuse war metaphors in everything. There are very few places that it actually works and even in places where we think it should work, it doesn't. For instance, calling it "The War on Terror". We may as well declare war on the sun.

That's one small step for man....one giant line for admission.

I think one of the most amazing things about this is how we're looking back in time, in this case only 450 years, but still. Think about where humanity was 450 years ago. Think of what's going on there right now. That's just so amazing to me. It's like watching a movie that we know has already been made, so the ending

My thought exactly.

The speed of light (and the limitations behind it).

This seems really cruel. Like unnecessarily cruel. I'm all about nature taking one for science and research, but it should be as unobtrusive as possible and this is the opposite of that. It's exploiting nature for entertainment and it's the same reason Sea World is so awful.

I was thinking about this the other day and how Elon Musk says that there are probably a lot of dead, one planet civilizations out there. It made me wonder and these are questions I don't know the answer to.

I love how the capital is saying how many people will die if the war goes on...Not mentioning the people who are already dying. At that stage, propaganda is too late.

What percentage of water used in farming and animal raising goes back into the system? I know with agriculture most of the water is retained in the plants, but when we hear about the amount of water to raise a cow or a chicken, most of that water is not retained and is sent back into the system, right?

"It just works" is a marketing term that, given what we are comparing it to in the industry, often does "just work". However, I'd be out of a job (as an Apple tech) if it never had problems. Additionally, this isn't an issue with the OS; this is an issue with developers not having the time to familiarize themselves

How is this a fail in iOS? Widgets are new and there aren't a lot out there yet and the ones that are out aren't smooth. It's a new system; give it time and it will improve.

I don't think the payoff is there. There is no incentive for hobbyist hackers like those responsible for the Celeb photo leak, financial or otherwise, and the people who would most want to go into it, law enforcement, are going to be doing targeted attacks on specific people, not the service itself. While I agree with

What about coupling something like this with lighter than air technology? I can see the advantages of a carrier in the sky.

I was about to say....that's definitely a helicarrier. I'm surprised the article didn't mention that.

The answer is getting shot. The bullet will tumble, tear, fragment, and rip. A knife will actively block the wound it creates until it's pulled out, it's cuts are generally clean and easier to bind up. So for long-term damage go with the knife. I've been stabbed...definitely better.

Sorry Whitney Wolfe. Not Virginia.

I keep seeing it reported as he "stepped down" which makes it sound like he had a choice. From what I read, they told him he had no choice. So basically he was forcibly demoted.

You say we can't even protect our credit cards from hacking but that's basically hyperbole. There is no unhackable system, but there are many systems that are so secure that they make hacking them not worth the effort. Most of the time when you hear about losing credit card data, it's a weak link in the chain

Unfortunately you can't bring back the dedicated refresh button on the left. I created a bookmark that runs the refresh script which I placed on the left but it still annoys me.

I use Safari as my primary browser for one big reason (and one smaller one). I also use Chrome as a secondary browser. I do different things in different browsers.
