I’m white enough to applaud when sizzling fajitas come to the table, but I agree with every part of this.

My husband is a writer and has had some modest success. He gets advances for his books, he’s well reviewed/awarded and his books sell more than the average writer in his genre. So, #blessed, right?

Yeah, I have to remind myself of that when I see friends buying homes or going on fabulous vacations- even though I have a higher salary than they do. Their parents paid for their college. Their parents helped with a down payment. My parents are wonderful people who gave me a lot, and I am terribly lucky, but things

My sister and I argue about this all the time. We grew up fairly lower middle-class, but our grandparents were always there to buy new tires or help my mom with grocery money. So many people dont have that and when you do have it - that safety net - its easy to take it for granted that you arent really looking at

Oh my god YES. I hear people talking about how their parents are giving them $20K for a wedding, or $30K for a down payment on a home, or paying for their college tuition entirely. Must be really fucking nice.

This is relatable to someone like me who has significant (in my less positive moments I use the term “crushing”) student loan debt because I too didn’t have financial help starting out. It also gives me hope that I won’t always be struggling. I wish more people who received that down payment from their parents etc.

I think the issue is that she’s been in Switzerland since she was 8 - so, 34 years. She might not have a lot of memories of life before Switzerland. She likely feels like Switzerland IS her homeland, so to her, she doesn’t view it as a foreigner criticizing the traditions of others, it just feels like criticizing her

Wow! This chick broke both WWII and Kim Philby? Duuude. She is fifty shades of badass. Why am I just learning about her now??

Well, a CNN reporter tried and got shouted down. I am doubtful Buzzfeed gets Press Room credentials.

And he called BuzzFeed, who released the dossier in full, “a failing pile of garbage” who would “suffer the consequences.”

If you look at when people basically worked for room and board, it was before any public benefits. So, I think if we literally got rid of any kind of safety net, we’d see that again, which is pretty scary.

A few years ago, I posed a thought experiment to my friends on Facebook. I asked them “if the federal minimum wage were zero, what would the prevailing wage be for unskilled work?” In a place like Seattle, no company could find a worker for less than about $11 or $12; below that, you’d be homeless even if you

Probably because people aren’t clicking through because the write-up doesn’t explain what’s on the other side. I had skipped it until I saw your comment.

I feel the bigger story is Steve Harvey once again showing his racist misogynistic ass here. That should have been the headline. Fuck that guy. In the Trump era, racist bullshit needs to be called out more often.

Steve Harvey is horrible, we always knew that. This is proof number 5,298

NO YOU’RE CRYING.

Master of None was a fabulous show.

I’m totally excited about Lena Waithe’s show: I loved her character on Master of None, and I can’t wait to see what she does with this.
