It’s not even about backlash/bullying, it’s about women being able to choose what they look like either way.  Some women really like to wear make-up, in the same way that I like to wear T-shirts and jeans.  In an ideal world many women would still choose to wear make-up.  Hell, there are guys that like wearing make-up.
