Someone I know thought it might have been some sort of dare, or a bet - "If we land this thing, the guy in charge has to wear this shirt on national TV, it'll be hilarious and soooooo ironic for smart science guy to wear a tacky shirt". Even if it was supposed to be a joke, it's a terrible idea. Beyond the "women not

Possibly not, because they were probably preoccupied with the landing and success of their multi-million dollar endeavor.

I feel like he's trying to be the next NASA Mohawk Guy and not quite getting it.

It's actually about ethics in science journalism.

Shit, they probably bought the shirt 10 years ago thinking, "If we pull this off, we GOTTA wear this thing in the interview after. Who's gonna give us shit? We just landed on a fucking comet!"

sometimes try sex youll be better

Here's my question; did no one at the ESA not think, "Perhaps I should tell the guy who's going to be on camera, answering questions from reporters and being transmitted all around the world as the face of our agency, that his shirt is inappropriate?"

OMG one of them totally said mi lady.

Its not a good looking shirt and its not very appropriate for the workplace. But of course the perfect response to a mild joke is aggression. Ya know, I could have sworn that women were supposed to be the emotional gender, but apparently that's not true on the internet.

"You shout about a man in a shirt, and wear a ring in the nose?"

At first glance, I just thought it was an ugly shirt. And then I realized it's ugly and grossly misogynistic.

Ugh. Are people going to threaten to kill me for saying that?

How was he going to propose? "Would you like to do twenty to life with me?" "Honey, they say marriage is like a prison... and now that we're in an actual prison, I'd like you to marry me." "I sentence you to a life with me!" "I know you always like watching Prison Wives."?

what if she's planning a return prank to leave him at the altar

I hope she makes a cute prank out of it. "Wanna go get ice cream? Just kidding, I'm actually taking you to YOUR DEMISE. Punk'd!"

I sincerely hope she hires some wedding planners to plan a fake wedding and then tells him at the altar that she can't marry him because she has a real job interview, so SEE YA!

Proposal planners? This guy did a really stupid thing, sure. But these "proposal planners" do really stupid things EVERY fucking day. I think they're the real villains here.
