I feel like there was an article on Jez in the last couple months about the origins of feminist blogging that had links to feminist asian bloggers, but I can’t quite remember... if it comes back to me, I'll giveyou a link!

My father-in-law died of coronavirus last week. You may remember from a few weeks back that my mother-in-law was basically horrible to him throughout the months leading up to his illness and after he was hospitalized. She’d been putting assets in her own name and doing shady stuff with the family business for months.

I wish he would have also pointed out the racism, prejudice and discrimination Africans living in Mainland China are facing right now. It seems as if they’re implying that Africans are sole carriers of the virus. I HIGHLY doubt that they are acting this way towards white foreigners.

I sincerely doubt that’s going to make a difference to the racists who attack Filipinos because they assume all Asian people are Chinese. You just want this to be a totally different article, addressing a different problem.

Excuse me, sir, but you can shut the whole entire fuck up with this purposeful missing of the point and attempt to distract.

To start what? Restricting immigration isn’t a tactic against racism. Your hobby horse isn’t relevant to the topic at hand. If China turned itself around tomorrow, there would still be racism, because that’s how racism works.

Thank you for reporting this. My parents are afraid of going out not only due to Covid-19, but also the possible discrimination they might face. I do what you have been doing, I stare at the person staring at me and play the chicken game. I agree with you about us POCs and marginalized population should all fight

I’ve been thinking a lot about this for the past few days. I appreciate the framing of this article because my mom’s side is Japanese and my dad’s side is Chinese. My maternal grandfather signed up for the 442nd from Topaz Internment Camp, and it’s a decision that has always kinda baffled me. The need for collective

This is exactly why idiots like Donald Trump and Lars Larson intentionally calling COVID-19 the “China Virus” is despicable.

Stay strong Esther! The bigots are weaker.

I was thinking recently that it is no coincidence that this crisis happened when it did - Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Passover, Easter...I’m not “organized religious”, but I sure do believe that some higher power felt we needed a reminder that we have some shaping up to do.

I wish folks were more sympathetic. People were awful to African immigrants during Ebola. People please be kind!

Black woman here...I’m disappointed in the timing of this article. This is incredibly tone deaf given the absolute carnage this virus is leaving in its wake, esp. now in NYC.

There are also Asian people who are essential workers who are ALSO getting racist shit yelled at them while they try to help people.

Seriously...

It’s really, really hard to absorb the magnitude of loss that is happening right now. Multiple family members have had COVID (or suspect they did) but fortunately everyone has made it through without needing hospitalization, so the impact is more mental/psychic, and economic. I have clients stuck in jail who aren’t

People are fucking dying.

Someone dressed a Pomeranian dog as Paddington Bear...and now the world seems a slightly better place to be in than it did yesterday

We are at the tail end of a yard sale. Made some money - even past the point of what it cost to put on the thing (permit and cash for change), but I think it was too hot for people to well and truly poke around.
