The biggest problem I have with a) is that half of the reason for the rules of the road is that it gives you a reasonable expectation of the behavior of other drivers. You should always be aware of your surroundings on the road, but it helps when people aren’t pulling out surprises on you. As for b), there are some

THIS!

a) You probably don’t ride. Believe me, there are plenty of places that are unsafe for a car to pass where it’s no problem for a bike (either due to the bike being able to do the pass or simply because of things like better sightlines due to lane positioning etc). So it comes down to The Law vs. common sense, being

Anne Hathaway is pregnant! Isn’t that great? A source says she “wants to keep it quiet” until she “has an official pregnant belly,”

Somehow worse to me is that one of the officers in question is apparently a woman. Like its terrible enough that the bros are so fucking stupid but a woman actually looked at this woman and was like "lol yah bro she is totally lying." WTF?!?

Those articles pay for these. I actually see it as being a rather ingenious way to pay for investigative reporting in this day-and-age.

Yep. Not charging him? Okay. Maybe there’s not enough evidence. Charging her with filing a false report when your only evidence that it’s false (the video) (a) doesn’t prove it was consensual given she was alleging threatened and (b) is entirely dubious because they GAVE IT TO THE ALLEGED PERPETRATOR TO FIGURE OUT SO

Yep. And unlike other crimes, in which a finding of not guilty generally does not negate the basic fact someone was shot to death, a gas station was robbed, a warehouse was torched, it’s just that the accused wasn’t the one who did it? When an accused is found not guilty of rape in an “A said/B said scenario”, the

There really isn’t dude. Let’s break this down, so you’re wandering the street, or going home, mystery person jumps out and either A.) wants your stuff, or you’ll die. Or B.) They just stab you. You dial 911, it takes 20-30 minutes for a cop to respond, and then they might call an ambulance, or just an ambulance will

Happy you’ve had wonderful experiences, keep propping up straw men. Your time will come too and hopefully the lesson won’t be too hard learned.

“What hope does anyone have in this country when this is what young women are learning from police inaction?”

Cavender noted that Lara said, “At the point where he had sex with me, yeah at that point I was a willing participant because I wanted to get it over with.” But Lara wouldn’t “admit” that she had wanted to sleep with Joaquin, which made the detectives upset. They told her that Joaquin didn’t deserve this, she says.

The only compensation she has is a $550,000 settlement from the psychologist who testified it was safe for the baby to go with his father. Too bad the actual police are not paying a dime.

And it’s a bit depressing that one of the few outlets doing it is a website that spends most of its time on articles like 10 Disney Princes With Hot Butts.

Because they think women are evil bitches who lie about rape to fuck with fine, upstanding men. That's all there is to it.

I find this absolutely incomprehensible. Having read the article I still have no real idea of why they found Lara’s story “suspicious”, only that this Det. Cavander guy had a hunch and then over-interpreted some relatively minor inconsistencies. Sadly, it’s not like this is an unusual story; a similar thing happened

And got promoted.

Those cops should be charged as accessories before the fact.

I just read that 20 minutes ago. I still can’t get over the fact that they let the accused take a piece of evidence-the video camera-back to his lawyer’s office to pull the footage and are treating it as if there’s nothing wrong with that. And they’re still using the footage as actual evidence.
