Let me rephrase on that. Jeremy Irons had wanted to re-do Lolita from the 80's but couldn't find people etc etc. So he does play HH 10 years older than what Humbert actually is in the book or rather maybe 5 years. Nabokov is a tricky bastard that way ;)

Irons does a better Humbert by far.

As an avid and critical Lolita fan I disagree with your opinion of the 97' Adrien Lyne version. However as the infamous Humbert Humbert would say… a chacun son gout.
