I think Jessica Jones could have used its episode count well if it had done more procedural episodes early on before going to Purple Man.

Sorry to break your bubble but the Netherlands and Belgium also have The Force Awakens on Netflix now.
In Ireland lots of stuff available in the UK is geoblocked and I swear it's just they can't be bothered.
I bought one once and the code wouldn't work in Ireland. We have the same DVDs as the UK sold here but apparently they couldn't be bothered making the codes work for Ireland.
Gog.com sells drm free films.
You can't buy TV shows digitally in most countries still, I suppose due to poor sales they haven't focused on expanding it.
In Ireland lots of places only accept paper resumes to prevent floods of applications. Not the case in NY?
Because they wouldn't have the global rights to new episodes. They would have the show in the US but not globally, thats the key thing here.
They've rescued shows before they went global, and also they had some hesitancy with this over Longmire, where international rights were a holdup in the negotiations to renew it, so in this case they just decided it wasn't worth it.
Uh, I meant they want different things for different people, not a show that appeals to everyone.
Netflix wants something to appeal to everyone. Hence their original content being a smorgasbord of genres and tone. A lighter Marvel show wouldn't be a bad idea for wider appeal. This was just because they wouldn't have had the global license if they renewed it more than anything it sounds like.
Filmstruck.
Criterion leaves Hulu later this year.
I just thought maybe CBS have an exclusive deal with a Canadian broadcasters. All HBO shows go to Sky here, even the ones they clearly don't want (Looking, which aired in the dead of night :/) maybe its the same situation in Canada so it wasn't on the table.
I wondered if the homoerotic subtext of that movie was intentional or not. I wasn't sure because that movie didn't seem to be about much.
The newer ones. Older ones weren't globally llicensed, it's expensive (Love costs Netflix more than it would have cost, say, FX to order because of the global licensing)
Netflix started buying global licenses from their production partners with Marco Polo I believe. Their older originals were sold out when Netflix couldn't afford to make that kind of gamble buying a global license (Netflix Originals are more expensive for them then they would be for other Networks because of this)
None of those channels broadcast globally.
This is a case where the show might have a big international fanbase for all anyone knows. It definitely didn't do well in the US, but good domestic viewing figures isn't essential for Netflix's purposes.
They do in 43 countries. http://unogs.com/video/?v=7…
