I actually agree with most of this article. I don’t think Phase 4 was bad, it just didn’t have much of a common thread keeping it together. Add in a pandemic, a ton of Disney+ content, and Marvel’s noble (but somewhat neutered) attempts at social commentary, and you get whatever Phase 4 was supposed to be.

James Austin Johnson is a talented mimic, but SNL has demonstrated repeatedly that accuracy isn’t automatically funny. (IMO Chloe Fineman also demonstrates this often.)

100% agree about the dull political openers. Re-watching episodes from the Obama years with Fred Armisen (who is brilliant, but whose Obama was as dull as they get) sitting on a desk talking to the camera for the first 8 minutes of the show was awful.
