Ok so those are teams, not tournament organizers. A player can drop from a team on his own volition and enter a tournament without this team.

They are free to skip tournaments.

Tennis players and golfers do not have a players union, but they do have a governing body which has been capable of organizing both a season with time off as well as the ability for players to skip tournaments at their will.

The article only states that there is no governing body and that there are numerous, unrelated, tournament organizers all competing to stay relevant. It sounds like the game, or however it’s all organized, needs a governing body first.

As far as I understand, there is not a single e-sports league to organize. You just have dozens of tournaments all over the world that these guys are participating in. A centralized league with a ‘season’ should be in place, but that would probably hurt all the small local tournies these guys are going to.

I have one employer. E-sports people are freelancing.
