I remember that post. yeah your trip was longer than a flight from Atlanta to Ireland.

You need to keep our future lizard overlords happy. Can't make them think we forgot them.

Same basic stuff, just longer duration and you have to realize you won't have access to a lot of the kid's familiar foods and stuff. It's a good time though. Our kids loved Ireland and keep bugging me because they want to go back.

I wonder what the weight and balance data will say. They should have had plenty of power on tap.

14 CFR 25.121 requires an aircraft to be able to climb at max load with only one engine operative. EASA rules mirror this requirement.

our kids are 5 and 8. They've each had passports since they were 6 months old. Cool to hear you've done a good bit of travel. That helps a lot. If you are calm they will be, but you know that. Vaccines are a great point.

be a little careful with one way tickets. Some county's immigration and border control folks get suspicious of folks who don't plan on leaving. Not saying what you have planned is a bad idea, just be sure you understand the rules of where you are going.

we've traveled with our kids internationally several times and they have done just fine. While we didn't live as rough as Wes described when we had the kids with us we did have some adventures. Some advise if you are interested:

you are being a jerk. Stop.

This should have a dozen stars. It was a huge change for motorsports and roadcars.

Bathurst 12 Hour is next weekend. Just a note for future use.

I think we owe a nod of respect to the tires. Spinning up from zero to 150+ in an instant while taking a huge load. Pretty amazing.

that would have been an interesting meeting.

I hope so. Real economy improvements come from reduced weight.

Perhaps I've missed a promising trend, but I don't think I am too far out of line with my surprise.

"Still, this fourth generation car should weigh a few hundred pounds less than the NC Miata,"

I guess it all depends on expectations. I was expecting a fun read that actually had some reasonable science and engineering in it and it had that. Is it a life changing novel of deep philosophy and magical prose? Nope, but I didn't pick it up for that.

It ticks right along and has enough drama and suspense to keep you turning pages. I read it in one shot on a flight from Christchurch to Singapore.

Agreed that now is a good time to get the order in, but compared to the active airline service 747-400s that the VCs are kin to (yes, I know they are a hybrid between the -300 and the -400) I would bet dollars to donuts that they are still way low hours and cycles. Really it is the cycles that get a 747 when you

They aren't that old. Low hours and cycles and they are kept in the best environments. The airframes could last for another 25 years at the current utilization just fine. Updating the avionics is where it gets expensive.
