@Zanzan42: I agree. The answer is $$$.

@tonyola: OK... I'll play. There is a very good reason as well for Apple's closed app system. It helps ensure a constant user experience and control competition within portions of the market that Apple wants to control.

@Mr C: My point from the beginning of this thread has been that HE IS REAPING THE REWARDS OF DRM! His response was disingenuous, to say the least. He portrayed the studios as 'them', but he can't play both sides, as CEO, board member or major stockholder. He's not CEO now, but he was, until Disney paid him

@GMoneyFunk: Correct... but it still puts him in both camps, and he made it seem like Apple and the users were the victims. BS.

@Nitesh Singh: Uh huh. And Steve blamed the content creators. Of which he is one, since he's the CEO of Pixar, and this particular question was about 'Up'. Try to follow along.

@koolpin: Huh. Guess you got me. Good luck on that star.

"Q: I bought the movie Up on DVD, it had a digital download. I put it on my iPad. I hooked up my VGA adapter and tried to play it... but I couldn't because of HDCP. Can you tell me how you're helping with this?"

@Garion: I don't get your point. Was it that Henry Ford was able to lock up the auto market by restricting choice? Because my point was that everyone assumed he did have the market locked, much like many believe Apple has it locked. But they will lose it for much the same reason.

Steve approves.

@koolpin: It's called a metaphor. Look it up. The Model-T was limited to black, just like Apple limits the iPhone.

@Kuwabara Kazuo: That makes no sense. Gates was extremely competitive, and decided early (and correctly) that it was more lucrative to sell operating systems than computers or hardware. And he got IBM to finance it all. It's Gates who decided not to compete with Jobs.

SJ: "We lost he platform war? We didn't even fight it."

$250 for Natal -and- the 360 Arcade unit? Not bad... glad I haven't purchased a 360 yet.
