Not quite. The base 2016 GT350 (not the R) could be had without the “track pack” which contained additional cooling. Without that additional cooling, some people were tracking their cars and experiencing limp mode. The track pack was included standard on 2017+

This happens with every manufacturer. I have a deposit down at my local Porsche store for a GT4RS, which HASN’T EVEN BEEN ANNOUNCED YET. The deposit is 100% refundable so if I ever change my mind, I get all of my money back (sans any interest I might have earned in the market).

I’ve owned both a 981 CS, and now a 987.1 CS. The 987.1 is more fun, visceral, engaging, challenging, and rewarding to drive. The 981 is more refined, less twitchy, and has better technology, but still great fun.
