Cars are lasting longer than ever regardless of maintenance by the owner. This problem would exist no matter what. It’s also possible supply is constrained because people ARE holding onto the cars longer and they’re not hitting the secondary market.

You know the ratings aren’t comparable across classes, right? That doesn’t meant the Corolla can head-on the Suburban and the Corolla occupants will fare better, nor does it mean they can both hit the same stationary object (fence, pole, wall, etc.) with the Corolla occupants faring better.
