Much less outré than I thought it was going to be from the headline. "Artist Damien Hirst offends bereaved parents by using baby's skull for 'disturbing' new work" Started reading thinking it was the bereaved parents of the baby whose skull he used who were offended....

Although if I had only that picture to judge matters by, I'd probably conclude they REALLY REALLY hate it. :)

Bria and Chrissy are completely awesome.

Maybe you're right, I really don't know. I tend to be of the opinion that I'm not going to second guess people on what they believe their psychological needs are unless their needs involve causing harm to others, or if their needs involve something which causes cumulative harm to them (like, say, a destructive

I understand what you're saying...but I think it's problematic to expand the accepted definition of "medically necessary" starting with convicts. I think it does the broader community a disservice and will make the general public *more* resistant to providing generalized coverage for trans-specific health concerns.

Maybe...but sometimes people have chronic medical issues and have to take drugs, indefinitely, drugs which may have unpleasant side effects, but on the balance do more good than harm. Seems like it could be the same with a chronic psychological issue....

Thank you for that. And I think that gets to the heart of it. It would be one thing if this was the general treatment Kosilek would expect outside of prison...but it's not. This is definitely special treatment that is only available as a result of having murdered someone. We should have a better healthcare system

In order for a judge to deny him custody, she would have to contest it. Due process and all. The point, I think, is more that she should in no way have to deal with him at all for anything, much less to protect her child from him. It doesn't say that he's contesting for custody, but that he has the right to...and

Probably. If people don't move to Arizona, they could die from the natural disasters that could strike whatever part of the country they live in, and die, and thus perhaps deprive the world of Biebers!

Also stupid use of the same argument: if a women chooses not to have sex, the world might miss out on Bieber. Therefore...women should always stay pregnant. It's simply their duty to a possible future! Silly, stupid, terrible argument which can be used to argue for literally every possible course of action in life.

So, she felt like giving the prosthetic a little whirl again?

This. I don't even understand how this is an issue. EVERY conference call, people use the mute button. It's not out of disrespect, it's out of respect so the person speaking can actually be heard clearly by everyone on the call.

Metal slides + a nice sheet of wax-paper! Wheeeeee!

It's often not as simple as that, sadly. There's a lot of reasons why people are homeless, and a lot of those reasons can be broadly categorized as, "unable to get sufficient assistance for the psychological issues that bedevil them". Whether its substance abuse or mental illness, there's a lot of homeless people

Yes. Make sure you do better by your kids if/when. Why, it's practically child abuse to do otherwise!

Amen. The election isn't over until the Supreme Court tells us who it has selected as the winner.

To be fair, if they didn't report the numbers that way, you can't word it that way. It's probably true, and it's probably a conclusion you could draw from their dataset...but it's all about what you select as the independent variable. If they split the population into those who sext and those who don't, and then

I'm certain he was referring to NatGeo as a place to oogle tribes-women. Dodai noted that in the article, Erin referenced it as a place which features animals, no reference to tribes-people. If I had to guess, Erin may have been thinking of other prior racist slurs against Michelle which compared her to things such

I dunno, I'm pretty certain I'd be too hung up on exhausted to have fun. For me, I can't imagine anything worse than having such a complicated image to *constantly* have to live up to. Kudos to her for having so very much more energy than I could ever muster.

Oh, I definitely think the joke was racially motivated. Just looked like Erin was assuming it was comparing Michelle to animals rather than tribes-people...racist either way.
