Go Used! You can get a KLR in good shape for under $2500 any day of the week. The hunt is half the fun! Replacing the Doohickey is the other half...
Yeah, I feel that you really made out with the 256ssd and the 8GB of memory. That will make a huge difference in long term ownership over that refurb! Sounds like a good fit. Enjoy!
Wow. That is cheap. That spec was probably $1200+ a couple years ago, and that is still a super capable little PC. Pretty neat. NP!
My watch went like this...
I had an 07 KLR for a while. Outstanding bikes! Beware of the stock tires they throw on there if you are doing any trail riding. Otherwise, Have fun!!!
Bought the same thing for my R56 Mini S. At first it would take serious pressure to start, but after a few weeks the foam must have compressed and its perfect with no trouble starting. Makes for a much better shift in my opinion!
Poor old Saab Sonett. There is a long, semi boring youtube video about it.
I have an Auto 240d... You are not incorrect. Foot to the floor it’ll do 75mph, on a good day, eventually. Still a great car. Simple, well built, good hunk of metal.
“It starts off as a white power but when heated up, “a rapid exothermic reaction is started which produces a large mass of coiling serpent-like solid.”
Get the Hellas and go for it! That would look mean.
I wish I had a set of Euro lights for my 240D! I would think that doing all four lights would be pretty sketchy on a dark night, my lights are dim enough as is.
I have a cooper S & have found that the mini dealer prices are pretty reasonable (for a dealer). I haven’t had to buy Steering fluid, but a synthetic oil change kit & washer fluid was under $35. So, I would give them a call first.... hopefully they will surprise you!
Probably Forgot to top off his Hard drive fluid......
There ya go! Have fun with it. The first “work” I ever did on a car was swap a head unit. Sounds twice as good when you fix/upgrade it yourself!
Looks like OEM Pontiac head units are about $100 on Ebay if you are keen on keeping it stock. Otherwise, i would buy a nice aftermarket head unit on Crutchfield and never look back. Makes for a fun little DIY project.
Hey! I just wanted to say, as a W123 240D owner, that i really enjoy your Merc posts! Happy Holidays!
I know I am late to the Tech support party, but check your Time Server connection. :-)
This likely includes a script that creates a “fusion drive” via command line. I guarantee that someone will use this device without a backup and think its okay to pull their SD, in turn destroying the entire file structure of the logical volume. Not a great idea.
I second Warby Parker. Get an exam somewhere and order from that site. I have gotten 6 pairs from them over the past few years. $95 bucks is pretty cheap for what you get.
