I don’t think it’s that wild of an idea. Nintendo does backwards compatibility way more than you think. The Wii and WiiU were both backwards compatible. On the handheld side, everything after the original Gameboy has had backwards compatibility (though the redesigned DS models stripped that feature).

Depends if they continue with the traditional gen system. It’s not been said if Pokemon Legends: Arceus is truly a new “side franchise” or perhaps what we might expect of new “main” titles. They’re not going to pull a Wii U because people are buying Switches. It might seem like Wii U support was dropped quickly but when you look at sales the customer base abandoned it way before Nintendo did. The entire year of 2016 they didn’t sell 1 million units.

The thing is that it isn’t really about any *particular* wealth range. I live in San Francisco, got a job at the tail end of last year that pays more than well enough that the stimulus isn’t necessary to me, but since I didn’t get hired until late late in the year, I didn’t make enough money to get classed out.

As B’dilliBay said above - it’s a stimulus, so if your family went and spent it on non-essential items it’s still working.
