Can we settle this by saying Mastodon have more critical cred than most metal bands so that increases their profile? Bands that appeal to critics get more press so they gain a form of popularity.

Whatever Sony stands to lose on Kesha is a sunk cost at this point, the bad PR can't possibly be worth it. No self respecting artists will want to sign to such a draconian label, Dr. Luke's career has gotta be over at this point, and for what? If they'd have just let Kesha go her star would have likely faded over…

I watched it in high school, I find Mel too offputting to be interesting. He's got dead, demonic eyes, and when he tries to play a regular, horsin' around type guy, he seems like a barely restrained sociopath to me. He just gives off an evil energy.

Why does the myth persist that You Oughta Know is about Coulier? He's said it's not him, she dated lots of other people, and it's more likely about her producer from her younger days. Coulier is just the more famous guy she dated.

I'm honestly not a huge Gibson fan anyway, he seems devoid of any emotional depth. I don't think the original Max trilogy would have been any worse for wear if someone else had been Max. I think changing it up was the right choice.

How am I just finding out about Achewood?

R&B seems built around musicians with a clear steady hand who are nonetheless keeping things intentionally simple. Some of the drums on old Sam Cooke records are extremely simple but it feels intentional as opposed to how a punk band would play it.

Because newer stuff has crisper production and in some cases lyrical themes that are more relatable to modern audiences.
