I’d say the stupid one is Tesla, for releasing a half-baked attempt at partial autonomous driving and allowing the public to ‘beta test’ it (Musk’s words!). Google has it right... logging thousands of hours of actual driving to develop their system.

Exactly. I’m no old curmudgeon, but I’ve been around long enough to know this idea is the ignorant optimism of youth. If it’s not economically viable, it won’t happen. And no, the future you imagine is not economically viable.
