Dear Tesla, the negative stories about factory conditions we write and pass along to our friends in the media will continue until you unionize. Love, the UAW.

Punishing Tesla for deaths using autopilot is like punishing seat belt makers for deaths while wearing a seatbelt. It’s a safety device, it isn’t an immortality talon. It will simply discourage and delay the implementation of next generation vehicle safety. It has already been well established that use of autopilot

The take-home here is this was used as a COMMERCIAL vehicle. It’s by far the harshest type of vehicle use. Imagine comparing a New York city cab lincoln towncar to your grandpas towncar in terms of wear and tear. Pretty impressive performance in my opinion.

You’re either an extreme outlier or BMW’s mom.

You’ve just described every crossover on the planet.

Palladium is a buggy whip. We will need less and less every year as EVs replace combustion engines.

And will all that money coming in from the new California gas tax that is supposed to go to road repairs....what a surprise that’s being diverted to mass transit after the prop was passed.

That is virtually a word-for-word argument leveled against Amazon compared to Sears in the early days. People never learn.

Amusing to read all the comments from people who are completely unaware of how the stock market works and what determines stock price. It’s future earnings, people. Investors are speculating on future earnings. The fact that they currently make more or less cars than company X is completely irrelevant.

Decreasing prius sales has everything to do with consumer tastes moving to CUVs and nothing to do with loss of interest in hybrid vehicles.

I always enjoy the total hypocrisy on display when people who wax poetic about ownership and daily driving of sports cars meant for nothing more than ‘ring lap times, then get bent out of shape when someone drives a SUV to work. Neither is meant for commuting, and yet apparently only one hurts feelings.

What makes 2 of 3 white men voting for Trump racist, but not 9.5 of 10 black men voting for Obama? I’m confused Michael Moore, why would I have to fear those white men but not fear the black men. Statistically it would seem white men are far more open minded about the race of their President than black men.

That’s interesting because I notice many car sellers on Craigslist are listing their vehicles about 60% over market value because they know what they have.

It would be more accurate to say European companies are having a hard time selling EVs. Tesla is selling them as fast as they can make them. When products like the new Porsche Taycan hit the market and only have 60% of the range of the 7 year old Tesla product they are targeting and cost twice as much, it’s no mystery

It’s like a sport, watching the media articulate around giving credit for Trumps trade war to China’s slowing economy as though the two weren’t directly related. Kind of like how we’ve had a dozen or so record highs for the Dow this year and yet all you read about for the last 3 years is how the market is ready to

Jeremy speaks to a valid point, which is that climate change alarmism actually hurts the cause of solving the problem. Things like Al Gore tell claiming all global sea ice will be gone by 2014. Let’s listen more to scientists and less to teenage girls and politicians and celebrities, all of which are generally

How many actual plantations had thousands of people auditioning to be let in?

Tom, great advice and great point. What in your experience is the sweet spot for how long to keep a new car? I’ve always assumed it was 8-10 years and I know it depends on the vehicle but wonder what your general advice would be on that.

Every president in the last 30 years has been booed at a professional sporting event. Obama included. Suddenly it’s big news because it supports the world view of the media.

Ummm Toyota has half a dozen or more EVs in the pipeline and more behind that.
