Not sure this is such great advice. I personally suspect this engine cannot be made CARB-compliant. We may see a buyback of epic proportions, and being a second owner makes that more difficult and certainly not profitable.

Here’s my prediction. VAG’s 2.oTDI cannot be made CARB-compliant. Period. Running the car on the dyno-only software would grenade the engine in less than 1000 miles. That’s the bombshell that’s yet to drop.

Are you being ironic? The richest 5% of the country pays 80% of the taxes.

Why is Jalopnik cross posting a political analysis of an election debate? It’s a CAR forum. Let your sister sites earn their own clicks. If I wanted left wing political analysis from the perspective of a college kid I’d read huffington post.

If you’ve ever sat in the back seat of a Panamera, you know there isn’t a market for a much smaller panamera, except perhaps in the Shire.

A car has to actually be produced to leapfrog another. This thing is years away and any claims as to performance, range, charge times, etc. is highly speculative at this point. It’s a fantasy being compared to a car thats been for sale for 3 years (and one that I own, in full disclosure).

The split windshield wasn’t done for aerodynamics, it was done to allow use of much cheaper flat glass instead of curved glass.

Tesla Model S. A thinking man’s luxury car.

How many sports car owners track their cars? I fail to see the difference.

I like the car but call me highly skeptical that this will be able to maintain a California title for long.

I said so in my response. The Ranger Rover Sport however, is not a Range Rover. Thanks LR for the confusing naming.

There is no 3 row Range Rover. the LR4 has 3 rows, I have one. The Range Rover sport has a 3rd row option suitable for amputees or hobbits.

Diesel is and has been cheaper than regular gas in the US for some time, and it’s much cheaper than premium gas which is the real comparison.

The best description I’ve heard of the current gas V6 supercharged is that it’s a car engine put into a truck. Having had 3 gas Land Rovers, big heavy SUVs are better suited to diesel, as long as it’s a sophisticated modern diesel and not an old tractor engine.

If you read the early reports, many prefer the new designed for North America TDV6 to the older V8 diesel. Quieter, smoother, marginally less powerful.

I have one on order here in California. I’d like to know how the butt-dynometer scores it compared to the supercharged V6 gasser. Obviously it has less horsepower and more torque but how does that translate in real world driving? Does it have stop-start like the gassers? I’d also like to know how the infotainment

Jalopnik— convincing people who really can’t afford to own an Italian exotic that they really can, since 2004.

Fighting forest fires is a colossal waste of money and a glaring example of d0-good environmental policy that actually does more harm than good.

This is a very unprofessional article. At some point you’re going to have to decide if you want to be taken seriously as a writer here. You’l get some high fives from some of the high school posters here but it won’t serve you well otherwise.

I understand your enthusiasm for the detailed ad...but I would propose that you state the essentials of the car with good photos, and the minutia can be discussed face to face.
