Aw man. Really?
"At least we can all agree that Stranger Things was awesome, right?"
Oh come now, Admiral Thomas Henry and Fleet Admiral Brackett were alright!
Or actual NMH for that matter!
A piece that mentions Pete and Pete and no Marah Eakin to be found?!
I used to really like Don Giovanni records, but then I followed Joe Steinhardt on Twitter for about a month and just…. yeah.
That's totally fair, I was just curious. I don't meet many honest-to-goodness fans, but I sure see enough t-shirts, or worse, all those parody shirts.
… do people seriously like Black Flag that much? This isn't even a joke question. I listen to a fair amount of music from that era and enjoy a decent amount of hardcore, and Black Flag becomes unlistenable to me the moment Keith Morris takes off.
Yeah, I couldn't do without a lot of Burma. It's scary to think that their "worst" album (probably "The Sound, the Speed, the Light"?) is still really awesome.
Okay, as sad as his passing was (and it is SAD), this has to be the most Now complaint ever:
Truth. Mission of Burma pulls this off too. I've seen them several times (and they are pushing or at 60 at this point) and they still bring it in a way you can't really compare to a younger band that also has energy.

I saw him with his wife in a bookstore in lower Brooklyn some months ago. I'm rarely starstruck by anyone, but I admit that I stood there and possibly drooled for a noticeable amount of time.
There might be licensing issues with that since I think all of those (?) went on to be on major labels after Dischord. I'm also sure they asked all the bands personally if they wanted to be on there or not, as is their way.
Dischord has always been on its own wavelength, so I'm sure they've been thinking about it for awhile. They tend to prefer cutting out middlemen, so I can imagine surrendering some fees to paypal or Bandcamp gave them pause, but once they realized it was helping to sustain DIY music the way that it has been, it got…
