DO WANT!!
And then there was the 917/30. 1500hp in qualifying trim.....
412T1 and 412T2 are Maximum Scuderia in terms of looks and sound IMHO...but it’s hard to top this all-conquering V10 monster for sheer badassedry:
Will be interesting to see other manufacturers’ sales results. I’m laying this largely at Toyota’s feet until then.
Most business indicators in the economy appear good. Any economic jitters are/were due to 1.) the interest rate environment, at least until the Fed opted not to raise rates further, and 2.) political anxiety. Some of it is well-placed; widespread trade wars would certainly slow the economy down, and Trump’s…
The manufacturing complexity is a big part of it, and that helps the automakers’ bottom line. Where I think you’re on to something - particularly for luxury brands - is that most non-enthusiast buyers just aren’t that picky about their options. Joe Public walking into a BMW dealer generally wants a nice car in an…
CUVs are unfortunately what many people want, otherwise they could (should?) have bought Toyota Venzas, 3- and 5-series wagons, E-Class Estates, Volvo V/XC models, Golfs, Fits, Focuses, etc. Whenever I try to pitch friends on sedans or wagons, I get the inevitable response: “I want to sit up high, have more ground…
Wow. Looks like this garage could have been assembled by one Pablo Escobar circa 1992.
I wouldn’t mind a turbo motor...as a high-performance option. I’d hate to see the current engine replaced with a similarly-powered turbo engine. Makes the car too generic.
Helllllllll naaawwwwww
That would be awful. Both cars already feel a little underpowered for their chassis.
Agreed. I don’t have a problem with turbo performance cars in general, but it’s nice to have a revvy N/A option on the market!
*Gets Molotov cocktail out*
Dunno about you guys, but automakers bundling different options and packages together drives me nuts. If I want something on my car, I want it; don’t force me to buy some stupid set of options I don’t want.
That’s an interesting question. I can see your point in theory, but manufacturing as a whole (not just cars) has drastically reduced quality defects in the past few decades through automation, improved technology, and use of methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma (thanks in no small part to Toyota). More product…
I just think the widespread sentiment on here where people get all mad at automakers for building what the mass market wants is stupid. The carmakers are simply responding to the incentives given to them. I personally think CUVs are stupid for a variety of reasons, and it drives me nuts to see carmakers kill off…
If I spend $100k on a car, I’d rather sit in an interior where everything I see and touch says “we went above and beyond to make this awesome” rather than “no different than $30k car”. I don’t care as much in a sports car, but even then I’d hate to purchase a $150k Porsche or a $300k Ferrari only to have the ambience…
Interesting stuff. A few thoughts:
No argument that Teslas drive great. That’s the biggest part of their appeal, at least to me. But if I’m paying $50k for a compact sedan or $80-100k for a midsize-to-large sedan then I want it to feel that way inside. I suppose it comes down to personal taste, but at some point “minimalist” becomes “downmarket” to me.
