Recently got a WRX on a 3-year lease, planning to autocross it. Was tempted re: track days, but had heard rumors of engine and brake issues. Thanks for clarifying this. You might have spared me a very large bill :O

Never owned one, but drove one years ago. It wasn’t spectacular...but it was good enough to get me thinking.....

One of these guys:

LOTUS = Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious!

Shocked its that cheap....probly mods and miles. Nice unmodified examples are going for at least 2x that.

Touche, but almost all these complaints come with undertones that people who drive trucks, muscle cars, performance cars, supercars, etc. are either knuckle-dragging goons, unsophisticates, or meatheads; or are else insecure bros trying to over-compensate for something; or else the criticism is attached to some screed

Good point, forgot the Valkyrie. Though I’d bet the Senna will be fastest for awhile, as it should hit the street ~6-12 months before the Aston.

Yes, because the only reason men buy cars we don’t strictly need for basic transportation is to increase our dick size *rolls eyes*

Awesome vid. It ain’t pretty. But weapons don’t need to be pretty, and that’s exactly what this car seems to be.

Hopefully the interior is better than the new one. The A/GLA/CLA always felt cheap inside, and wasn’t very refined to drive IMHO. Just didn’t feel like a proper Benz to me.

“Also of importance, GM has been freakishly obsessed with proving that the Corvette is the equal of its international sports car rivals, campaigning the car (and winning) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, making track-ready Z06 editions and now probably making some sort of midengine version.

Terrible idea. Cars are less fun if they don’t have the power to match their chassis. The C7 Grand Sport has gotten dinged in comparison tests because it needs more power to fully exploit it’s handling capabilities, not less. If anything, it’s the grip that you can’t exploit on the street, not the power.

“Why do you Jalopnik bloggers keep trying to Euro-ize American cars?”

Agreed. The flat-4 sounds like group flatulence and is way too vibrate-y compared to the old flat 6.

Oh yeah. Looks great on the Mustang too!

Agreed. Haven’t owned a grayscale car in years. I don’t mind them, but having a more unique color makes me appreciate my car more.

1. Proportions - hood length, width/height ratio, etc etc etc. They have to either be a.) in balance, or b.) deliberately outrageous, but in a way that “works” from all angles. This will obviously vary for different types of vehicles

Sorry, just not on board with BoP is a concept. I understand that it keeps racing close and interesting, but surely there’s a smarter way to write the rules than having some arbitrary, week-to-week decisions handed down, all because some manufacturers decide to run entries based on huge 4,500 lb luxury coupes against

Agreed. There’s a fundamental problem with manufacturers having to swap engines while turning road cars into racing cars to make them LESS powerful. Let the class run with 700hp. It’s more relevant to sports car racing’s “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” ethos.

Without having sat in it or driven it, my knock on the Up! is that it just looks silly inside and out. It lacks the solid, mature styling that makes the Golf GTI so handsome. I know it’s a tiny city car and appeals to a different buyer, but the styling makes it look downright cheap.
