Well at first it was a way for you you to 'redownload' any purchased music directly from your iOS device as opposed to plugging it in and syncing it via iTunes. Streaming would just allow you to listen to it instead of also storing it on the iOS device itself

I don't mind doing that but if you could just stream it and not have it save it to the phone than I would have no need to physically store any music on my iPhone which would be a plus

I do look forward to using it for my Time Machine backup once SeaGate releases a Thunderbolt swappable bottom for their GoFlex externals. I'm stuck with USB 2.0 at the moment, and with a Thunderbolt one coming out soon why bother getting a FireWire 800 one?
