The father’s comments to me reminded me of the “There’s Something Wrong with Aunt Diane”documentary, about the woman who chugged OJ and vodka while driving her nieces back from a family trip. It was early in the morning, and she drove the wrong way on the Tacony.

I didn’t say you were a journalist - I mean, internet comments are pretty definitely not journalists.

“But I do think it’s bizarre that people are offended that I think it is disrespectful to play a football game when bodies are lying in the street two blocks away.”

You don’t understand. During homecoming, the population of the town doubles. This city isn’t built for the residents it has during the year, let alone during booms like homecoming. The streets are congested on a good day, and a football day, it’s a nightmare to move around, in, or out of town. Add on to this, with the

Not here. They unite, like they do after tornadoes, or bombings of federal buildings, or bombings at football stadiums, and face it together as a family. Football is king here and Boone Pickens (or Memorial, in Norman) is its castle. Cancelling the game would be an atrocious idea for a lot of reasons.

Money and logistics. Don’t get me wrong, I wish they’d at least thought about postponing it, but it would have been a huge pain-in-the-ass to get everything moved around.

Whole lotta people who don’t know jack shit about Oklahoma Strong in this thread. I get it. Football is LIFE in Oklahoma, and OU and OSU are family first. It’s part of the healing process. This Sooner is thinking of her OSU family today.

I got a DUI in August 2014 and I will say people who drive drunk are assholes and the punishment we get is nowhere close enough to the crime. I wrote a thank you note to the guy who called the police on me. I needed to be anywhere but on the road.

Incredibly scary and sad. OSU has been through some tough times...
