If you only care about racism when Black people are nice to you, you’re a racist. We should care about eradicating racism because Black people are human beings and it is the right thing to do. If your commitment is dependent upon whether or not Black people are patient with you when you ask them ridiculous questions,

Speaking a white-passing woman to a white guy, one thing you can do is not enter black spaces and vomit your white guilt all over the comment section. People here are just trying to kick back, relax, and vent about white supremacy the same way you would vent about your shitty boss or awful mother-in-law or Wall

Maybe not in front of you...

Put simply? Let people vent.

And it seems so disingenuous to ask this of crap anyway. The message has been getting broadcast for years already. How long ago did James Baldwin write? Or Ralph Ellison? Or any number of writers, poets, orators, musicians going back for however far back you care to look?

...this isn’t going to help your cause and if anything is turning me off to trying.

Seriously. Google “How to be a good ally.” Then stop trying to make the people you’re trying to help do all the heavy lifting for you.

You do it by:

Okay, but up above you said: “With shit like this racism will exist forever and I no longer care.” So it just doesn’t really seem like you are all that committed to making any effort to end racism. So why should anyone invest any time in helping you figure out what to do?

Yeah, why can’t you guys solve racism for him?

Because you’re not saying “there are terrible white people” you’re saying “white people are terrible. I hate us.” I’ve never met a black person who would say, “white people are terrible.”

Maybe just shut the fuck up and listen for awhile.

Their cause is to make content for black people. White people (we) can enjoy it or fuck off. Nothing racist about that.

But white people don’t suck. White supremacy sucks. Saying, “white people sucks” allows you to act as though there’s nothing you can do.

In other words:

#12 “I was riiight on the fence of caring about black people but since my feelings got hurt online, they’re on their own” guy

I commend you for trying to play nicely with this guy, but he’s just looking to dump his emotional baggage all over you, and hoping you’ll alleviate his white guilt.

Do you understand why people responded the way they did, though?

For starters, don’t come into a Black-oriented forum and complain that the articles don’t speak directly to you.

#8.5: The “if you’re not talking directly to me and giving me specifically individualized instructions on not being a piece of shit, then you’re being counterproductive and I’m just going to keep being a racist (but I always was going to just keep being a racist anyway)“ guy.
