I've been in the closed beta for a few weeks. the smaller scale of the battles feels more frantic and intimate, and whilst it's taken influence from other modern shooters it has it's own identity and feel. The perks are awesome! Whilst your loss of hype is entirely your prerogative, I'd suggest not writing it off just

I get together with friends to play boardgames several times a week, from Risk or Monopoly to Talisman... there's something about sitting round a table playing classic boardgames with a group of friends that you just don't capture with videogames :P

I agree. I preferred the new take on the franchise to the overcomplicated main-canon series. Sure, the game was perhaps a little over-simplified, but I grew to appreciate the no-death thing, and the lack of complexity in movement allowed me to concentrate on the gorgeous animation and artwork throughout the world.

not on the new model PS3s anyway. If you want to have a PS3 run in HD through component, grab an older console.
