I honestly don’t think they’re the same type of car, the Golf R is so refined that it’s basically buying an Audi. Really nice interior and the new one comes with the much bigger high rez navigation system screen that’s almost Audi quality (still laggier than the Audi systems though) while also being a quick car.

I’m sure that if the person updates their resume to say “GM Venezuela, 2003-2017, reason for leaving: hostile takeover by the government” the potential employer will get the picture.

LOL Tom, “not going to be as extreme,” you are so diplomatic! I doubt 99% of buyers will ever push the R beyond its limit enough to wish they were in a Civic: “Man, this Golf R is just not extreme enough, maybe I should buy the Civic.”

Yeah, I was thinking “laid off” would be a better term. Some argue semantics, but there is a difference. No one wants to tell another employer they were fired from their last job. I really don’t think “firing” is the right word here. I mean, the government seized the factory. I know it’s a game of semantics, but the place of employment no longer belongs to the employer, so shouldn’t it be the responsibility of ones who took control of the physical place/equipment to now employ the workers?

Absolutely. I just perused the whole line of new models yesterday and it was crazy to say the Odyssey was the most cohesive (non-Acura) design of the bunch. That’s not saying much. Honda’s design team only has two versions of the Ugly Stick right now: Wiffle Bat and Negan.
