goddammit, my whole bad in my dissertation I’m writing right now is in pieces of arts that require physical interaction and active participation to be fully realized, and now one of my favorite shows does that very thing?

Oh good. Season 2 was really good; I’m really looking forward to this.
Ah, that’s probably it. I use Brave (which, btw, is a really good browser), and it blocks cross-site tracking by default. I’m not sure if there’s a way to write in specific exceptions. I’ll look into it.
Also, I note this here, but Kinja seems absolutely fucked for me. I can log in fine on jezebel and i09, but any other site I log in and the window just disappears without logging me in. I can’t comment anywhere but these two sites. :(
Well, she does say she goes from zero to thinking she’s a wizard with two drinks, so I’d accept the claim that she gets like this off of kid-size painkillers.
Watch those motherfuckers make him the Skywalker of the title, as he decides to embrace his mother’s side, and he and Rey can finally be happy together.
Oooo, is this the not-bedding-regrets thread! I have one!
Chancellor, in the background: Excuse me! Excuse me! wh- what’s my motivation here? HmmmmMMMmmm?
It’s really baffling to me that this isn’t more of a phenomenon than it is. The puppetry is just stunning, the performances are superb, the story, soundtrack, everything. I can’t recommend it enough.
Haha! Too bad the Virginia electoral map is gerrymandered to shit and the Democrats, despite winning 60% of the vote last election, still don’t have a majority! That law will never get changed by a Republican majority.
Kinja won’t let me reply to anything. Clicking the link just reloads the page. But only on this and a few other sub-sites. Works fine elsewhere.
I don’t really agree with most of what he says.
The British “voted” for Brexit in the same way the US “voted” for That Asshole: funded by oligarchs and manipulated by Cambridge Analytica. Treating that as respecting the integrity of the democratic process is laughably farcical.
Mortal, quick question: since the only possible Brexit will be a hard one, what do you think the likelihood is that Ireland reunites and Scotland leaves the UK?
It’s definitely a really good long-term strategy to frame the 2020 election as frivolous bullshit where nothing is of any consequence and it’s all just a game.
You guys, the movie is really good, but this critique kinda makes some good points, and now I’m … fraught:
A footnote in Chapter 37 of Edward Gibbon’s superb History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, written around the 1780s:
Pedantry Corner: isn’t it “Chamberlain”? Like, that’s an actual office in most monarchies, isn’t it?
It took me two weeks, but I finally remembered the other weird B/W film about a lighthouse, Guy Maddin’s 2006 arthouse silent film, Brand Upon The Brain!
It strikes me that there is something deeply rotten about a system in which powerful people, confronted by multiple allegations and corroborated by lots of peripheral evidence, decide that the best strategy is to smear their accusers with a bunch of petty social-media drama.
