As someone who went through this, my heart is with him. You don't really recover. You just plod through time.

I am so sorry for your loss, Robs. My beloved died a year and a half ago, and yes, the world is just detonated. He and I did not have any children, and in my crazed grief I used to wish we had ever wanted to or that he had somehow been a sperm donor or anything. The absence is thunderously permanent.
