Probably mentioned but, allow the driver to take advantage of peripheral vision. Use colors or bold objects/font that change with speed, engine speed, coolant temp, collision mitigation/lane departure tech, etc etc. This allows me to literally not have to take my eyes off the road and know what is going on. Cars should have a roof ice/moisture sensor and a heater or one of each. Also, the car should remind the driver in cold weather to clear off the roof..or something to this effect.
