There was a failed bank robbery in my small town where the guy tried to get away on bike. I guess the question was which car though. A bike makes for a bad car.

Whatever this thing is?

Basically double clutching is where you put in the clutch and pop it out of gear, release the clutch and match the revs you need for the next gear choice, clutch again and put into the desired gear. As stated by many other replies modern transmissions synchronize the gears so the driver no longer needs to do this.

I've thought about buying one of these, but with the cost of gas I'm afraid feeding this cat would quickly empty my bank account.

Someone put a lot of time and money into this creation, and for that I feel sorry for them. This is a exhibition of bad judgement.

Back in 1909 you could buy a production car with rotating mid-mounted radial engine. The Adams Revolving-Cylinder Motor-Car, built in Dubuque, Iowa.

More exciting roads. I think the biggest problem in the US (and the reason so many people buy the equivalent of a rolling living room) is a majority of roads and highways are long and straight as possible. It'd be interesting to see a breakdown of the statistics to see how many people are falling asleep at the wheel

I had an 88 4WD LE van for about 15 years. After the kids grew up I used for a work truck. If you fold down the seats full 4 x 8 sheets of plywood fit in the back. I put 220,000 miles on it, and I still see it driving around town from time to time.

We (in the US of A) have to borrow money to NOT maintain the roads we have. Where will the money for these high tech fantasies come from? The odds of this happening are less than zero. Keep dreaming.

I can't believe someone actually thought building this thing was a good idea.

She want's the guy fired for this??!! Get over yourself. Most normal people would have tossed out the ticket, thought the guy was a jerk and gotten on with their life. I can't believe I'm even writing about this complete non-event. Perhaps her publicist thought this might get her name in the media and help her out in

I've gotten enough reasonable replies to put together a list. Jalopnik should run the counter article on companies that didn't let us down. I've gotten 9 in three replies alone. Ten shoulldn't be hard to do.

I plan to finally finish my Spitfire project this year. I'm about 80% there now.

I feel let down by most of the auto industry. How about doing a shorter list of car companies that surprised us by not being crap?

This is easy. The Alfa.

I guess Ford needs to hire someone to keep track of their names, at least the iconic ones. I'm available for the job, but only if it pays at least six figures.

Ford GT40

" you should drive faster than the conditions of the road allow" I'm about to drive 200 miles in a storm. I'm glad I got to read this before I leave. I'll be sure to take your advice. Thanks. I should buy a dashcam before I go maybe.

It just goes to show that bad taste in found in all levels of the economic strata.
