If a police officer has murdered someone, that means a human being has been killed at that officer's discretion. It doesn't mean there were ever consequences for that cop. So many cops get off light, or are guaranteed employment even if they are objectively terrible people.

Which is totally cool with me if that employee is a welder, or a nurse, or an accountant or something benign like that. But if that employee is a police officer that has murdered someone in cold blood on the job, those protections shouldn't be able to prevent a prosecution. Since the DA relies on the PD to forward

I'm not ging ho about getting rid of unions, I'm gung ho about making it easy to get killer cops off the street. Police unions get in the way of that, there are tons of documented cases of a killer cop getting to keep their job and no criminal charges even if they killed someone innocent with no justification.

People who think citizens have a right to be armed against government tyranny, perhaps with guns, and people who are racists/don't respect minorities as full fledged, equal citizens are not equivalent groups. There might be some overlap, but there's overlap between people who are pro-gun control and people who are

We don't elect the police unions that prevent all those people from disciplining police departments.

Sometimes it needs to be a bigger fish.

I would tend to agree with you. It seems like it's common among most low-technology cultures around the world.

honest question: appropriation? I thought humans have been building shit in rivers for like ever

In defense of that, most of the shit you do in these games is not going to be known except to you and a companion. Like, who was alive that saw me fuck up the original dragon during a fight that took place in Nord Heaven? That's a big old nobody. Unless I or my companion mouth off about it, nobody CAN know. Anything

This is the socialists coming for themselves, mate. Elevated levels of government authority and control produced this situation.

So the next thing out of your mouth is "in that case, please consider this conversation my two weeks notice!", right?

Does that lead to the widespread jealousy and team-ineffectiveness all my employers have said it will? Serious question.

Anybody that provides encrypted email and refuses to comply with court orders, sure. They're supposed to do that, they're an evil government entity created exclusively to circumvent privacy. #justdoingtheirjobs

Nobody is sitting here forcing you into the gmail service. You can choose to use any other email service, or use your own.

ISP, yes if your terms of service say so. They already do that, by the way, looking for copyright violations.

If you don't think it's right, don't agree to it. Problem solved.

The system I described is a democratic republic. You can inject the word constitutional in there six ways from sunday, but it's no diametrically opposed to what I stated either.

This is exactly how democratic societies are supposed to work. We voted in leaders who, on our behalf, defined our civic responsibilities, limited our "rights" and created laws to define criminal and civil offenses.

Exactly this. Why don't people understand that when they're treating with private companies, what's right and wrong is the subject of a contract(TOS) that they've implicitly accepted?
