ryan murphy doesn’t know how to write actual people, just stereotypes, tropes, and sometimes when inspiration strikes him, subversions of the two. so to cover up the fact that all of his ‘normal’ characters are two dimensional, he gives them quirky costume pieces and a single parent household.
