Thank you, that's what I meant (struggling with words :).

True to her character - yes, I can't say it wasn't. It still feels like they just used her one last time. Not exactly satisfying.
I meant particularly Damon telling Elena about his decision to become human, not the whole episode no. It gave me more emotions than the latest. Definitely not Stefan or/and Caroline.
Maybe

That's just the feeling I got. It felt more about like what's to come for the other characters than what was happening to Elena (and a tribute to her). Powerful… yeah, they could have been if it wasn't so rushed. And done just for the effect of it. Familiar settings was a good idea though. But the emotions couldn't be

I like this review / recap and it does make me feel a bit better about the finale - and TVD in general. But it wasn't exactly what was to watch on TV (the idea is good, and I have no doubt it was the intention) - it felt rushed and overdone and the emotional impact just didn't come. Not in the full (and deserved)

"The whole thing just felt rushed and half baked, with too many random out of nowhere twists to really build tension." I couldn't agree more, that's the thing about their writing, the most important scenes/episodes are just overdone, rushed and often chaotic. There's no room for us to build up an emotional reaction.
