Huh I feel you kinda buried the lede here

Now, c’mon.

Who’s gonna be Sanchez? Is Gillian going to play Dahgless herself? I’m confused.

Nobody who watched Ben and Kate would say that. (To be sure almost nobody watched Ben and Kate.)

It’s one thing to know Vince McMahon is a creepy evil fucker, it’s another to have it spelled out like this.

I guess this means she’s game for that remake of City of the Walking Dead

Part of the charm honestly was the slice-of-life stuff with the aliens blending into human culture.

Yeah Duel was a TV movie but it also saw theatrical release in some places and like, you’d be hard pressed to argue it’s not a proper film.

Also AV Club hasn’t reported this but we also lost David Emge, aka Steven/”Flyboy” from Romero’s Dawn of the Dead. Man gave one of the best zombie performances ever.

It’s the car punching because big dramatic theme song build and then *ahhhhhhh!* Genius move by whoever made that call.

As much as I loved Minus One, rewarding its effects would kinda come off as rewarding the studio for paying its FX people shit wages.

Oh, this means he was responsible for what may be the best single moment in a show opening credits sequence (you’ll know when you see it):

I mean Saltburn can be enjoyed as a lurid thriller with some muddled points about class in it or whatever, but it’s not really a prestige picture nor do I think it was ever pushed as such.

You know I’m normally sympathetic to this complaint but there’s literally one line in this film that’s a bit hard to hear and it’s when the guy’s asking Oppenheimer the same question over and over while he’s having a freakout imagining a nuclear blast, so like, you can kinda infer it.

Literally everyone’s response is that scene from Brooklyn 99 where Rosa says “I’ve only had him for a few hours but if anything happened to him I’d kill everyone in this room and then myself.” Mine included.

The newest 6.55 patch for Final Fantasy XIV sets up the summer Dawntrail expansion, and unlike previous x.55s it’s less of a cliffhanger and more “Get ready for a new adventure!” Fortunately it introduces Wuk Lamat, who is a pure delight. There is already fanart everywhere.

It’s a little sad to see games like this rolling out after the market for live service multiplayer experiences completely tanked in 2023- like it’s too late to change direction but the market is saturated and there just isn’t room for this anymore. Like when the MMO crash happened.

It’s worth noting that along with Scanners, a lot of Cronenberg’s early films- including Videodrome- where “tax shelter” pictures, taking advantage of Canadian laws to encourage film production. Videodrome ended up being a pickup by Universal based on Scanners’ success (and they completely fumbled it), in fact I think

Part of it is that the Holidays used to be the big release season (and still kind of are behind summer): That was when studios liked to release their biggest pictures, and today that season’s still big for awards hopefuls because it’s just before the deadline for Oscar consideration and so on. So you’ve put out your

Don’t forget The Firesign Theatre’s Everything You Know Is Wrong, considered a comeback after 1972's Not Insane and a year apart doing separate projects.
