Screen diagonal measurement are most useful for devices that have the same aspect ratios.

Because the iPhone is 1.5:1 aspect ratio and the Evo is a 1.66:1, the screen diagonal measurement is not an apples to apples comparison (no pun intended).

@Helvetica: Since I rarely look at my screen with a magnifying glass to see if I can see pixels, I would rather have Evo's 2.5x the resolution on a 8.2 sq in screen rather than 4x the resolution on a little 5.6 sq in screen. It is a lot easier to hide pixels when the screen is that small.

@infmom: I think the idea here is to use something you might have in your pocket or purse rather than buying and remembering to bring a special tool.

I've always done something similar in XP. I don't like giving up that taskbar real estate to the word 'Desktop' so I have a folder name 'l' that is the only thing in my quick launch bar. That allows me to make it as narrow as possible and have quick access to a lot of things without taking up much space on my task bar.

@Archnemesis_Goldenhair: I take almost all candids as well. I think the article is referring to putting the 'crosshairs' right on the subject rather than referring to unposed/posed pictures.
