omg. i said exactly that about the cyrus betrayal montage. well, i yelled it drunkenly at my telly while precariously balancing a glass of white wine. WE KNOW SHOW. yeah, that.
do you have canned MEAD?
I agree. The Originals is more interesting by far, for me. Maybe it's a bit of VD fatigue too. But overall, the dynamic between 1000 year old siblings is much darker and more layered.
does this mean even the perfection that is manu bennett can't salvage this? i need my manu fix, but i cannot watch below a certain standard of shit. thoughts?
He shall always stand the undefeated Gaul in my eyes!
i'm a sucker for manu bennett (yum) so i shall check this shit out. even though it's sounding rather like eragon (which basically means that kid ripped off shannara amongst many others).
the masters of rome series. it's so dense and i had a week off from work, so it's literally all i did. got through the first 2 (the first man in rome, the grass crown), then spent a day feverishly looking for tv or film on marius and sulla, before i had to just walk away from that shit for a bit… complete mindfuck.
Yep. Every time it's on telly I watch it. THE LEGEND OF THE RENT WAS WAY HARDCORE!!
uff! i rewatched this last month in a glorious binge. still fucking epic, relevant, smart and overall brilliant.
I've been reading the Accursed Kings series and have caught quite a few references, small incidents and even personalities similar to ASOIAF. So yeah, I think he takes inspiration from a lot of places.
Daario is Rhaegar is another one. Which… why the fuck not? At this rate, Tyrion will be Drogon soon enough.
same at westeros. check it. it used to be funny, now i just feel bad.
Nah, Edmure's busy raping Jamie (not Jaime) of late.
Ramsay can't just send Sansa on a hunt no matter how deranged he is; she's a Stark and meant to carry his heir (vomit). And Roose is around.
The show runners have done that with Brienne too, though: removed all the nuances, the 'true knight' aspect of her character and left her as some sort of HulkSMASH! + let's-be-bitchy-to-Pod combination.
BS. Even Ned explains to Arya that Sansa owed loyalty to her betrothed and when Arya asked him wtf he would get his own daughter married to a monster like Joff, he had no reply. Blame Ned for agreeing to the match. Blame Cersei for being vicious enough to get Lady killed, Arya for playing with Mycah and Joffrey for…
Hell, Cersei as a character is hated by many but her rape caused a similar stir, so that's bullshit. That is kind of the point of the walk of shame, in fact: you want her to suffer but when she does it isn't as thrilling as you imagined it to be.
Look at Tyrion. They removed everything that made him sinister: the singer becoming a bowl o brown, Tysha's rape, his demeanour at Illyrio's (ape/ugly sex and threats at a slave); they have whitewashed him into someone who REFUSES sex at a brothel! I mean, that isn't an adaptation, it's a complete character…
I read an interview with Bryan Cogman (EW I think) where he said LF actually knew nothing about Ramsay. Never mind the flayed bodies hanging about Winterfell. Sigh.
